Montreat College, Charlotte

Against a backdrop of rolling, green hills in the southern city of Charlotte, North Carolina, sits Montreat College, a small, four-year Christian school with traditional Liberal Arts academics as well as unique programs of study.

Since Montreat is small students get to know faculty and one another, which makes the campus life a highly enjoyable and memorable experience. In addition to spiritual activities such as fellowships, chapel services and prayer groups, Montreat students go on field trips, join student clubs and engage in community service.

Classes at Montreat are also a highly interactive experience, with students working closely with faculty.

Academic subjects include Bible and Religion majors such as Ministerial Studies, Christian Education, Youth Ministry and Biblical Scholarship. Other undergraduate programs are offered in Business, Fine Arts, Education, English and Social and Natural Sciences.

Some of Montreat’s more unique programs include the Outdoor Education and Wilderness Education degrees.

Also unique is the interdisciplinary studies major, which allows students to blend different subject areas.

Finally, there are accelerated degree programs for adults, which meet in the evenings.

Student services include a Writing Center, career counseling and financial aid opportunities.

When evaluating prospective students, admissions representatives look at a student’s academic record as well as evidence of leadership, achievement and personal motivation.
