The Culinary Arts program uses the classical European apprenticeship method for teaching students, who work one-on-one with chef instructors. In combination with this, New England Culinary Institute teaches such progressive approaches to cooking as sustainable food choices.

Culinary Arts students may even specialize in Sustainability. They may also specialize in Wine and Beverage Studies, one of the less common specializations available at a culinary arts school.

New England Culinary Institute even offers online degrees, which incorporate an equal amount of one-on-one study and hands-on learning.

Students in all majors also complete an internship at an area restaurant. Even online students do this, by obtaining an assignment at a restaurant in their area.

The restaurants with which New England Culinary Institute has affiliations are mainly high-end gourmet eateries. Students in the Restaurant and Hotel Management program complete their internships at resorts or corporate offices.

Applicants are encouraged to take a campus tour. The institute also recommends that applicants submit ACT or SAT scores, a resume and a recommendation letter. All applicants must submit an admissions application and high school transcripts or GED scores.

New England Culinary Institute awards scholarships to students with an excellent academic record. They also offer alumni scholarships to students who were referred by a graduate. Other types of financial aid include loans, grants and veteran’s benefits.
